Public Transport from JFK
Hi all - I arrive at JFK at 4:30PM tomorrow and heading from there to the Fairfield Inn / Chelsea. Since it's rush hour on a Friday I figure public transport maybe faster than a taxi - what do you all think? Looks like I would take the AirTrain to Jamaica Station, then transfer to LIRR to Penn St.

buy your LIRR ticket at the station in Jamaica. There are ticket machines. It is more expensive to buy a ticket on the train. its a peak fare at that hour and its $6 more to buy on the train
if you are returning to JFK and you are traveling on the LIRR on a Saturday or Sunday, you can purchase a city ticket at Penn Station, only on the day of travel for $4.75 a bargain fare
