Princeville Pool Use?
This is a weird question. But I am going to Secret Beach Cottages for my honeymoon and was wondering if anyone knew what the rules/options were for using or even crashing the Princeville Pool. I know this sounds weird but there is no pool at Secret Beach and I might be dying for a dip. I know some hotels (even fancy ones like the Ritz) let you use the pool if you are having lunch. Does anyone know if this is possible? What about if you use the spa? Or what if you just crash discretely? And is the pool/view from pool great? I am going in October. Thanks!

They appear to keep a pretty good eye on non-guests. Last time we were there my wife was sitting in one of the lounges near the beach and was told they were for guests only. I thought it was rather amusing to watch her get tossed out as I watched from my swinging hammock! That was only until I was the next victim to be evicted. The sand ended up being quite comfotable for both of us.

What we have done in the past is rent kayaks in Hanalei and paddle down river to the bay and then beach at the Princeville Hotel and have lunch. Hung out by the pool for a while and then paddle back. No hassles.
I once stepped on a sea urchin out on the reef ( we were riding the waves and turned over) The folks at the restaurant graciously provided some vinegar for the "vana" spines ( you know what the other "cure" is) They did not have regular vinegar, so I must have gotten about $10 worth of balsamic vinegar to soak my heal. No charge!

At the risk of sounding like a stick in the mud, I wish ALL resorts would pay stricter attention to people wanting to "crash" at their pools. If I and the other guests spent money to be there, why should non guests take up chairs and space from those of us that pay the enjoy the facilities?
This holds true even if someone is having lunch there. If you think about it, it is no different that going to a nice restaurant, taking a table with a view, bringing your own food and ordering a coke.

Princeville Resort allows people to purchase a day pass for pool use for $30 a day. They will only approve the pass the day of and if occupancy isn't too high. They also have a spa day pass but that's a lot more $150-$160 but comes with a massage and a facial I believe. We were going to do the pool pass but it ended up raining all day.
