I love the farmers market stands for excellent quality produce at reasonable prices, and those are aplenty here in LA, but I actually shop for the majority of my produce at Food4Less, a big discount chain here in LA (usually not seen in more affluent neighborhoods). The quality of my Food4Less' produce is excellent and the prices can't be beat. A week's worth of salad fixings for 3 people for about $4.

Faina, everything is cheap in SF? Not the housing dear one.
And we don't have a Food4Less unfortantly.
But back to bobrad's chicken at $1.49 a pound. That sounds like a good price to me!
Well everything is relative isn't it.

One of my side trips wherever I travel is to local market to check out selection and prices - my husband and kids think I am nuts but it gives you a window into the local culture.
Regarding produce, my brother lives in Florida and it is true that much of fall crops were effected by Hurricanes. Shorter season crops (peas, beans, some lettuces) were replanted and prices are droppping. Many citrus trees were damaged past 2 years by storms.
Do not know what kind of trees grow Sea Bass, chicken or beef.

This thread is related to travel, as many traveling do not rely exclusively on paying top dollar for hotel meals and venture to the supermarket for alternative dining.
Best deal of the year I think in Las Vegas last week, $4.00 for a case of diet 7 up. One thing we always do on the way in to our hotel is stop at the store and pick up soda and water
