Just to bring this to the top again.... Can someone offer a crash course for Chicago hotels on PL? I've not decided if I'm going yet, but if I am, I'll need a hotel for Saturday night (Sept. 2) (the Labor Day weekend).

I've used PL for London, and I saw the blurb on the free rebids for Chicago, so I'm familiar with that concept and I think I can squeeze out a couple of more bids.

Some questions:

1. Are there any "surprises" in the PL hotels? I checked the 4* options for Michigan north listed on BFT and they look ok. I think this would be my preferred zone.

2. What'd be a reasonable bid for a 4*? It looks like the recent bids on BFT have all been over $100. Is this normal?

3. How about the 3* options? Other areas?

Basically I'm just interested in hearing if there're nasty surprises or pitfalls that I should be aware of. If I decide not to bid on PL, are there websites that are pretty easy to navigate where I should consider booking?

Thanks.

It might be very hard to get cheap rates for labor day weekend but good luck. As others have mentioned, PL seems to work best at least one month out.
