We'll be arriving May 7th or 8th, after 10:30 p.m. from west coast. After baggage claim and car rental it may be pretty late. So I'd like to find a place nearby, safe, comfortable and convenient to find and park - just for one night to get some sleep before we head up towards the Freeport/Brunswick area the following day. It's for myself and up to 3 daughters. Any ideas?

I'd recommend a hotel near the airport. I stayed at two last summer, both of which I got through Priceline. One was the Doubletree which was clean but not quiet. I got a loud room (by the pool!!!) and it was bad that Priceline gave me a full refund. Arriving late, I wouldn't risk staying there and getting the "pool room" there.

The other hotel I stayed at near the airport was the La Quinta (formerly the Fairfield Inn). I actually quite liked the hotel. Then again, with the change of ownership it may not be the same. Check out the Trip Advisor reviews. Although it is near train tracks, I didn't hear any trains at night (I'm sensitive to noise).

Sounds great - thanks! I was leaning toward that La Quinta (which I have in AAA book as Fairfield). I am very sensitive to noise as well, and will just want to sleep when we get settled, so that sounds like a good possibility. Will check Trip Advisor.

There's a Hilton Garden Inn right there at the airport. Freeport is a quick drive though, and the Hampton Inn there is nice, even the Econo Lodge and Super 8 there are fine. Exit airport turn left, follow Route 9 a couple of miles to the freeway, hop on the freeway for 15 minutes. Hotels are right by the exit. No traffic at 10:30pm, and remember, your bodies will think it is 7:30pm

Good point! Thanks. That is what I was wondering - if it'd take me an hour to Freeport. I know roads are not like our 8-lane wonders in southern Cal.
