Actually In California you are bound to come across plenty of men with plugs in their heads :lol~

I have seen in travel sections of larger stores and some luggage departments sets of converters and plug adapters for travel - if you travel a lot to different countries, this might be a useful purchase, since there are several different configurations of plugs throughout the world. I have seen them for about $30 (US) - sorry no idea of what this is GBP.

I clicked on your PLUG question because I thought you might be talking about bath tub plugs in Russia and the "stans". We had to bring our own!

sylvia, you can't just change the plug. You have to get the whole adapter thing. If you're thinking hair dryer, you may find that wherever you're staying provides one.

When travelling in China, we had no trouble asking for a converter from the hotel--and we stayed in several different places.

You might check with your hotels before buying one.
