Please recommend a place for honeymoon - moderate budget
We are honeymooning in late March/early April 2005. How is the weather at this time of year?
Also, can you please recommend a nice place to stay - island and hotel? We'd do only 1 or 2 islands for 10 days-2 weeks, and like good service and nice rooms, but don't have a very high budget! We like quiet and relaxing, with activities to do also, such as golf and tennis.
We live in Montreal, Canada.
Thank you!

Susan I love Hawaii go every year. If you are really on a tight budget why not conside Latin America. Costa Rica, Equador check out quito. You won't loose much in the way of sleep as there is little to no time difference. Both trips are considerably lighter in flying time also. Just an idea you are still in the dreaming stages yes?
If you don't have a big budget March and April are good times for Hawaii. Tell us what your budget is in U.S $$$ though because I suspect that makes things more difficult for you.
If I were on a budget in Hawaii I would go condo it. In March and April I would also go to Maui or the Big Island. I love the big island so I would probably go there not both places in just 10 days.

www.lonelyplanet.com for descriptions on the places that I mentioned. Costa Rica has been compared to Hawaii in terms of landscape. There is more wild life though and there is a rainforrest as well as an active volcano, least I think it is active. These are my travel dreams I have not been.
Quito is widely considered the most beautiful city in Latin America. It is the second highest city in the world and surrounded by many peaks. Weather is spring like throughout the year. You can also hope a plane to the galapagos islands for a cruise. Just a thought.
www.vrbo.com for condos on Hawaii. On the big island I like www.hilton.com hilton Waikoloa school holidays you don't want to be here but other times its nice. Can you get a AAA card in CA? They offer breaks through this.

Here's another vote for Costa Rica.
Thre are a wide variety of lodging choices and I have stayed at each end of the spectrum. One of my favorite hotels in the whole world is the Turrialtico - the last time I was there it was less than $40 a night with breakfast included. Not fancy at all, but the most gorgeous view of all time and great food!
Also recommend white water rafting - awesome. Try Rios Tropicales - I've always had a great time with them.
Hawaii is the most expensive state in the U.S. as so much has to be imported. It is indeed very beautiful but if I were on a budget, I'd definitely go to Costa Rica.

SusanAlexandra, I am assuming you are asking about Hawaii in your post, right? If I stayed two weeks, I'd do two islands, but probably just one in ten days. If you want quiet relaxation, I'd go for Maui or Kauai and the Big Island, if I did two islands. Also, can you give an idea as to the maximum you want to pay per night for your hotel/condo in U.S. dollars? That would help us in recommending lodging. March is still high-season there, but going into April you will find the rates dropping in many hotels, in my experience. Good luck with your planning!
