Go to Hawaii, Acapulco or Costa Rica?

Hello,

I am trying to decide between Acapulco or Hawaii and cannot make up my mind. I am taking 9 days off work and was thinking about going to Mexico City, renting a car, driving to Cuernavaca, Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo and spending most of my time in Acapulco or going to Hawaii. I don't want to sit by the beach all day. I want to go hiking, on day trips, etc. I want a fun vacation in a beautiful place. Any recommendations? Thank you!!!!! Oh wait¡K I also had Costa Rica in my mind. ƒº Any thoughts? Were would you rather go? Thank you!!!

Any of those are great ideas...Hawaii would be my pick for the beautiful eco-system. I would explore the volcanos, try to do some whale watching...if I went to Costa Rica, I'd do the canopy tours and some fishing...your road trip idea in Mexico would be fun too...

They all sound great! Where are you flying from (is one destination a much shorter flight for you)? I love Mexico dearly but think 9 days is too short for so much driving and with too many places, especially if you have to return to DF for your flight home. I would probably go to one island in Hawaii instead, and save the Mexican road trip for when you have 2-3 weeks.

Since you want to do a lot of hiking and day-tripping, go to Costa Rica! It's beautiful and natural and not nearly as expensive as Hawaii. Even though it's a small country, you can experience several different climates and types of terrain in one trip. They have a huge biodiversity there, so you can see many birds, mammals, plants, etc.

I started Hawaii vs. CR threads on this and on the US board several months ago. If you click on my name and go back a couple of months you should be able to find it.

Hawaii does not have to be expensive, especially if what you want to do is outdoor activities (free). Earlier this year my plane ticket was WAY cheaper than what I could find to Mexico for the same timeframe.
