Please help plan Naples, Fla trip
Hello,
My husband and I and our 4 month old son will be visiting family in Naples at the end of August. We will be there for 6 nights. We were thinking about leaving the family for a night or 2 and going somewhere on our own (with the baby, of course) just to get away for a little bit. Any suggestions about somewhere within a couple hours of Naples that might be of interest? If it helps, we are flying into/out of Ft Lauderdale (I haven't been there since Spring Break in college, so I don't know if it is of interest!).
Our "normal" travel interests will probably have to change due to having our baby with us (we haven't really travelled with him yet...just a family trip to the Poconos). Just something casual and relaxing and relatively easy to do with a baby. Any suggestions would be helpful!
Also, any suggestions about what we should do/see while we are in Naples. We will have some babysitting while we are there.
Thanks!

You Can do a day trip cruise to Key West or over night from Marco Island on the key west shuttle . Or drive to key largo or Miami South Beach. it is less than 2 hours to the airport 119 miles. They also have one and two day crusie from Ft Lauderdale port to the Bahamas . Bush Gardens in Tampa is less than 3 hours from Napels approx 147 miles and Orlando is approx 200 miles all can be done as a day trip or stay one night . As for evenings out 5th & 3rd avenues or the place to be . There are lots of places with nightly entertainment all over Naples. My Best advice for August is go to the beach early in the morning and avoid the beach from 1-5pm with the little one it will be very hot and strong sun no matter what SPF # sunscreen you use. have a good time in Naples

We just purchased a 2nd home in North Naples and spent 10 days in July with my 6 year old. She loved the beach(she preferred Lowdermilk to Vanderbilt because there were more young kids). We also discovered Golden Gate community park(on Santa Barbara off of Golden Gate Parkway)which had 2 big water slides and an really fun mini water area for really little ones(i think it was about 6 inches of water). We also went to the Carribean Gardens zoo, but is was HOT!!! In terms of alittle romantic time, we went(w/o our daughter) to Chardonnay, a really nice restaurant. Have a great trip!
