Please Help GoTravel Plan Husband's 50th Birthday Getaway!

Hi Everyone!

Please help me plan my husband's 50th birthday getaway!

I am open to all suggestions and have a little over a year to plan.

There will be all ages going and I would like to keep the cost reasonable (no Breakers or Ritz-Carltons) so everyone will go.

Three to seven days and it will be late spring.

I'm open to all suggestions!

On my 50th I'm sending everyone to Disney while I stay home.

You should consider a cruise. Something for everyone to do while the old man can relax...

I was thinking a cruise would be a good idea. He is a Disney freak! Maybe a Disney cruise?

I just realized this trip will take place around the same time as my 40th so I hope we both aren't planning!

They had a show on the Disney Cruise Ship on the Travel Channel a couple of days ago. It looked very nice. They have a beach for couples only on the other side of their private Island.

A cruise is looking better and better the more I look into this.

We will be leaving from the Charleston, SC area so driving to Florida to save on airfare will be an attractive option.

The more I look at cruises, the more confusing it gets.

Anyone with a good cruise website?

I like the Key West, Cozumel, Jamaica itinerary.

Never thought I'd be a KW cruise passenger but oh well.

I like the cruise idea. My fave website for cruises is cruisecritic.com where the ships are reviewed by the site's critics and other cruisers as well. The message boards are great as well as the roll call forums to find out who your fellow passengers are.

Although I don't consider myself a 'cruise' type person, I have been on 6 of them over the years (mainly because a good friend is an executive with a major cruise line). I don't think you should think in terms of destinations, but you should mainly look into which line to book on. They all market themselves to a different type of customer and you just need to find one that fits you. Some are for drunken college kids, others for people with young kids, and some chase after the Donald Trumps of the world. Although I hate to admit it, because I can't stand them, I think you should find a travel agent who is a cruise specialist. They book so many of these trips that they actually know what they are talking about sometimes. Try AAA for starters. My fav is Royal Caribbean, see http://www.royalcaribbean.com/gohome.do
