PLEASE DON'T BYPASS THIS MESSAGE

Please tell me all you can about the mule ride in Moloka'i. Would like to visit the old leprosy settlement. Saw the film "The Story of Father Damien". I know I can take a boat over from Maui but would like some adventure (without danger). I read a little about the mule ride but no enough info to make a decision. THANKS!!!!!!

Aloohaaa,
We were on Molokai around 9yrs. ago and tried the mule ride.
The lady at the front desk told me I could ride the mule down but I'd have to carry it back up! Funny gal. OK...so I had a few extra "vacation lbs" on at the time!

You may look into Molokai Ranch. I thought I read where they may have mountain bike tours down to the colony.
NoEast Molokai's coast rivals, if not exceeds the NaPali Coast for breathtaking views.

Egad...as tough as it is to get into this forum to start with, then as tough as it is to pull up threads and read, it'd be REALLY nice if, when we WERE able to, it was something we had even a remote chance of responding to!!

Molokai--a minute percentage of people reading this forum have a shot of having anything to say on that subject!

This forum is nearly impossible to navigate, so lets all help each other out and post questions with relevant titles, so when we do click on a thread, it won't be time and effort wasted.

Just letting off steam. This is so darned frustrating here! Headers such as this are annoying in the best of times...and this is as far from that as you can get.

Hey, this is fun! If everybody who reads this message posts a reply it will become the longest message ever!

Never been to Molokai, but isn't leprosy awfully contagious? I feel sorry for those mules.

Let's go for it Faina! LOL! But if Edna and joebob start to go at it, this thread will be deader than those leprosy mules!

Made this trip in 1999..
Mule Ride has website. We left at 8:30 A.M., and returned by 3:30-4PM...Times are designed so that people coming in from Maui (usually by air) can make the trip. Approx 3000' descend with 26 switchbacks-2 to 21/2 ride each way.
Tour of the colony...original church...very educational. There were still lepers living there (life time grant) I think 26 in 1999. The gentleman that gave our tour also was the advisor to the movie. GO, it is well worth the trip. I stayed on the island...very peaceful and layback.
