Pleasant Holidays Brkfast Orientation?

Hi- Just wondering if anyone has went to the Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays Breakfast Orientation that is offered when you book through Pleasant. Supposed to be breakfast with info about tours, lauis, boat trips etc. Just wondering if its a hard sale for packages and if its something worth going to.
We are staying in Kaanapali so the orientation at the Royal Lahaina Resort is the closest. We are staying at the Sheraton. Could we walk to the Royal Lahaina Resort from the Sheraton? Thanks!

unless you're into being the ultimate tourist, skip it and take a nice walk...I wouldn't consider giving a breakfast of this nature any of my valuable Hawaii time...good luck and have fun

The breakfast is OK as far as the food goes, but they try to sell you half of Hawaii. Not hard sell, but it takes up a lot of your precious time, what with all the pitchmen telling drawn out stories of their wares. Go to Mc Donalds, you won't have to sit for hours through a long winded presentation

It takes about an hour. You are herded into a room and served mediocre food and given the hard sell on places you could see on your own for the same cost or free. The free gift is a silly bag that is still stuffed in my closet unopened.I hated it!!!Do yourself a favor and skip it!!

We booked through Liberty Travel and have a "welcoming breakfast" the first morning. I assume this will be the same deal as the Pleasant Holidays thing, right? So your advice is to skip it????

I guess I'm a sucker but we enjoyed our breakfast by American Express Travel. They gave us two travel bags that we have been hauling around on all our future vacations (this was 12 years ago!.Of course we were interested in tours so it was convenient to be able to sign up for everything in one place. We were able to sign up for a tour of the island that left the same day so we didn't waste any of our vacation time trying to figure out what to do. We were young honeymooners then. I plan all this stuff now myself ahead of time, but I think there's a place for these orientations. Ours didn't take too long, less than an hour.

We did a please hawaiian holidays orientation a couple years back. it consisted of fruit, coffecake, danish, juice and coffee. blah as to the food, but it was a nice overview of what the island had to offer. we didn't feel pressured to book any packages. just did it ourselves in our free time later with other package providers. but, we used it to decide what we wanted to do and see while there and plan our week accordingly.

Thanks everyone for your opinons.
I read that the Royal Lahaina is owned by Pleasant Holidays. Is that true? Also read that they have dinner Buffet. Has anyone eaten there for dinner? Thanks!

THe "free breakfast" is just something that Pleasant Holidays does to make you think you are getting something "free". There are alot of people who will show up because they want those free bags. I know people who skipped the orientation, but complained because they didn't get their free bags. It is just a hard sale for tours, packages, shopping etc. Go if you have time and want free food..don't go if you have "been there ....done that"..and don't want the free bags. Maybe you do want the free bags--you could bring them back as souvinirs.HA!

Sound like it is something that we will skip - but we also have coupons for $30.00 off activities and tours- might want to take kids on boat for snorkel or to see whales or a Luau if price it right. Been to Maui before without kids - did Hana, Old Lahiana Luau, Iao Needle but might be something for the kids that the vouchers would be good for. Do we have to go to the breakfast to reedem vouchers or will most conceirge take the Pleasant Holiday vouchers? Thanks!

rg, 2 years ago my wife and I had vouchers through pleasant holidays. We went to the breakfast which was exactly as described in the above posts. While we booked some things at the breakfast simply out of convenience, you should be able to take the vouchers to the concierge desk and redeem them there without going to the breakfast. We used ours for the Atlantis submarine which was disappointing in my opinion as an adult, but the kids might like it. It is way overpriced, but with the vouchers, it was not quite as big a disappointment. We redeemed the vouchers at the breakfast and they simply applied it to our overall bill for the tours we chose, but I recall asking if we could use them later on, and was told we could. They aren't going to try and jip you out of something your entitled to from their package. Skip the breakfast, and use the concierge.

We will probably use the vouchers for the Luau at the Royal-just so the kids will have the experience. (Husband and have already been to Old Lahiana Luau) If we use vouchers for Royal Luau-
It will be - $30 off each adult and kids under 12 free. About $75.00 for all 4 of us. Definitely will skip the breakfast and use concierge. Thanks to everyone!
