Planning Travel in Uncertain Times

Has the real prospect of war in the middle east caused you to rethink your travel plans for 2003? Are there certain areas, other than the middle east of course, you would avoid? Are there any modes of travel you would avoid?

It makes me not want to go at all.
But I still do. I won't let them "win," and I still enjoy myself once there. It's when I'm home, listening to the TV, that I go nuts thinking "what next?"

The economy has but a bigger dent in our travel plans than terrorism, although, I also feel we need to support our country (and the economy) by vacationing in the USA.

Nope. I bought such a broad travel insurance policy that I can cancel for any reason up to 2 hours before my flight and get a complete refund.

What would be more troubling is if we did nothing (like Clinton) and let the troublemakers plot more ways to attack us. We have to carry the battle to them. I travelled overseas last month and wasn't too concerned.

We have an 11 day vacation planned for winter on a cruise ship and several days in port. Also going to Cancun in Spring. I may or may not lose my job the first of the year. I will get a severance package. I am not changing any of my plans. Life is short at the longest. I am going and I will enjoy. What will be------will be.

I've taken Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel, and Nigeria off my list of places I want to visit this year. But that still leaves a lot of other options, so I'm not worried.

We are going to a wedding in Israel in April, to celebrate with the family, who are third or something cousins. We will exercise the usual caution, but we will not be intimidated.

Home of the brave?
