Planning help - Spring Break-9 yr and 11 yr old. PHX>Page>Bryce>GCNP>PHX
Hi,
Trying to plan our Spring Break trip...
Option A:
Fly to PHX Friday nite
Sat am drive to Page and spend 2 nites
Drive to Bryce and spend 2 nites
Drive to GCNP and spend 2 nites
Friday drive back to PHX to fly home Sat am
OR
PHX, Drive to Sedona for 2 nites, drive to GCNP for 2 nites, Page for 2 nites.
We do not know when we will be back and want to make sure the kids have fun. I am a bit concerned the kids would be bored in Sedona.
Thoughts?
THANKS!

If they like to hike, they shouldn't be bored. If they don't, well that might be a concern. A 4x4 jeep tour might interest them however.
What time of year? Early spring could still see cool temps and weather concerns.
What do you plan on doing in Page?
Do you have reservations already for inside GCNP? That is a concern, keep calling to get them if you need then.

I would guess that unless you get to GC late in the day, one night will be enough unless you do a lot of hiking. If you don't have reservations to stay in GC, call and keep calling as people reserve way in advance and then cancel as the time gets close.
In Page, you might want to take one of the smooth water raft trips down the Colorado river. They will get a little bit of the feel of what it is like in the canyon. Also, maybe a boat ride on Lake Powell, tour of Glen Canyon Dam, tour of Antelope Canyon.

I think they would be less bored in Sedona than Page.
If you go to Sedona (and I think you should) be sure to take a Pink Jeep tour. The Broken Arrow tour is the most popular one.

This.
I'd plan the trip around the nights you can book inside the park at the GC. Starting booking now!

I prefer the national parks to the cities but I don't know what you or your children will like. The area around Sedona is beautiful but you have a hard time getting away from civilization. If it was me, I'd choose Bryce over Sedona. Bryce might have snow and it will be beautiful but it might limit what you can do. If there is a lot of snow you can always rent snow shoes.
If you are going to Page it will be boring unless you plan on doing either a float trip on the Colorado River or a boat tour of Lake Powell to see Rainbow Bridge National Monument. Both are a lot of fun for adults and children. Other things to do in Page are the Antelope Slot Canyons and the hike to Horseshoe Bend. Be careful with your children at Horseshoe bend because there are NO GUARD RAILS and it's a BIG drop into the canyon!
I think two nights at the Grand Canyon will be ideal because it gives you a full day to explore. Even if you don't hike into the canyon there are plenty of trails along the rim and lots of different view points.

If you go to Sedona, you must experience THE Vortex.
You can read about this spiritual experience in the web site below (scroll down)

I parked myself in one of the Vortex arreas and waited and waited while blanking all thoughts. Alas - nothing. But it was memorable. Should have taken a 'selfie'

Have you considered flying to Las Vegas instead and doing a loop to Zion and then Bryce?
Zion should have better weather in April. I think spring break is early this year, there is definitely a chance of snow in Bryce.
One thing you might be able to do in both the GC and Bryce is horseback riding.

Sedona isn't much of a "city". It's about the size of Vidalia, and smaller than Monroe or Perry. The land around it is pretty spectacular.
mlgb's suggestion of Las Vegas is a good one if you are staying north. It will save you about 200 miles of driving.

RVvagabond,
The Vortex is a prime example of civilization. We go hiking to one of the Vortex areas and we think we are getting away from civilization and we are getting close to the Vortex area and lo and behold there's traffic on a road that were were totally shocked to see and then we come across this large resort hotel. Not what we expected at all and we were quite disappointed.

Good that you got a better rate for air at Phoenix. Sometimes Vegas has car rentals that blow out the savings on air, but for $600 less it's a no brainer.
If it turns out that the trails in Bryce are snow covered (it has been when we were there a couple of Aprils), rent yak trax or snow shoes or do the rim pull offs and head an hour and a half away to Zion which will probably be fine as it is much lower.
