Plains, Georgia
Will be heading back north from Florida and would like to visit Plains, Jimmy Carter's home. I'm looking for recommendations for accommodations. Is it worthwhile to stay in Plains itself, or not worth the extra money? We're not much for Bed and Breakfast stays. Is there a regular hotel in Plains?
Thanks a bunch!

The only hotel in Plains is the inn opened by the Carters. Each room is uniquely decorated. There are several hotels in nearby Americus. The Windsor is a lovely historic hotel on the square. The Hampton Inn is another choice in town.
Just a suggestion. Go to Google and get a map of Plains. Then "search for businsess" by entering "hotel". You'll see a map and you can click on each hotel to see reviews and find their websites.

It's very somber, but another option nearby is Andersonville -

And, back to Plains.
Jimmy Carter still teaches Sunday School and the classes are open to the public if you are interested. I want to do this sometime -

Thanks for your help. I've made a reservation at the Quality Inn. We will have only Saturday for touring the area, and hope to be admitted to the Sunday School class that Mr. Carter teaches.
