Places to visit near Palm Springs
Hi there. I'm looking for a bit of an undiscovered gem. I'm traveling from from the UK to attend Desert Trip. The day before I'll be traveling down from Lake Tahoe and looking for somewhere nice to stay that breaks up the trip but isn't too far for me to go to reach my hotel the next day at the Palm Canyon Resort.
Been looking looking at places such as Victorville, Apple Valley, San Bernardino, Riverside etc but to be honest it's pure guesswork. If there is anywhere worth checking out for an evening around these areas I would be grateful for any advice.
Many thanks

Yes, 395 is a more scenic route. Not sure why you'd pick a spot so much closer to Palm Springs than midway? Do you need to be there early in the day?
Of the places you've mentioned, Riverside is probably the more interesting, Mission Inn downtown is worth a visit.

Thank you so much, both of you have helped form a plan. I'm not sure of the start time as yet but I do think I'll need to be there relatively early, especially with traffic. If it starts later in the day then Lone Pine it is, if not I'll make a point of stopping by there the day before on route for lunch and a look around. If it's an earlier start I'll stop at The Mission Inn, I was looking at that place and you have confirmed my thoughts. Once again many thanks, really helpful.
