best freeways from Valencia to Palm Springs

Hi, We'll be driving from Valencia to Palm Springs for the first time this Sunday early afternoon. Does anyone have any advice if one way is faster than the other?
Yahoo directions said to take the 5 to the 134 east then 210 to 10 east. However, looking at a map, it seems we can go directly from the 5 to 210 to the 10.
Thank you!.

The I-5S (the Golden State Freeway) to the I-210E (the Foothill Freeway) to the I-10E (the San Bernardino Freeway)is much easier, and bypasses cities where you might see higher amounts of traffic. Yahoo! is nuts in this case.

In the San Dimas area, the 210 breaks off in two directions. Take the new freeway route and continue on the 210/30 freeway to the I-15 south to the 10. By taking this route, you'll be able to bypass the typically heavy traffic in the Pomona/Montclair area along the 10.

Which part of Palm Springs are you going to? If you're going to downtown Palm Springs, you'll want to get off on Hwy 111.

sightseer is correct! I'm usually coming from the south, so I don't know the Foothill at all.

And I agree: Take Hwy 111 S into Palm Springs. It's easier and a more interesting drive too (those windmills are SO cool)!
