Places to Stay in Traverse City, MI

My husband and I will be traveling to Traverse City in Sept. Three places that we are thinking about staying at are: The Beach Condominium, The Pinestead Reef Resort or Pointes North Inn. What would you recommend?? Thanks for your help!

We always stay at the Beach Condominiums in Traverse City. Actually, we have reservations for a few nights later this month. We stayed at the Pinestead Reef once about fifteen years ago, but once we found the Beach we haven't stayed anywhere else. We thought the Pinestead Reef unit was kind of dark. The Beach condos are light and airy. The condos are right on Grand Traverse Bay and each condo has a balcony or patio (if you have a ground floor unit). Nicely decorated condos with a large bathroom with jacuzzi tub. I can highly recommend the Beach Condominiums.

If you have any questions, I will try to answer.

Could you recommend any restaurants in Traverse City or surrounding area. We will be driving to Old Mission, someone suggested "Bowers". We are going to be staying a few days in Leland which we already have reservations...but could you suggest restaurants in that area. Have you been there, around Sleeping Bear Dunes? What else is there to do besides the dunes and visiting wineries? Thanks!

Bowers Harbor Inn is a very nice restaurant and is very popular in Traverse City. Also at that location is a more casual restaurant called "The Bowery". Both are very good.

In Leland, we always eat at The Bluebird. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it is very nice inside. Ask to sit by the window - it's lovely!!! We've also eaten at the Leland Lodge and The Cove - both nice.

We always enjoy walking around the towns in the area. We always do Suttons Bay, Leland, Traverse City. These towns have main streets with shops and restaurants.

Enjoy your trip.

Agree with eating at The Cove in Leland. If a nice day eat outside by the water and if rainy, ask for a window seat by the water. And....be sure to order a bloody Mary! You will be surprised!
