Photos of bears

I want to photograph bears, Carnival offers 2 excursions out of Ketchikan to view black bears @ Traitors Cove & Neets Bay via float planes. I am sure these are pricy & I would really like to photograph the larger Brown bears. Does any one have any suggestions? You can contact me directly @ [email protected]

When I was in Ketchikan, I saw the flyer for the trip and it is over $300.

Bald Mountain Air out of Homer has day trips to see the coastal (Kodiak) brown bears. Pricey at $525/person, but fabulous photo ops.

I'll assume your trip is coming up??? August and early Sept sightings in both these locations will be BLACK bears, not browns as stated. I have been to Neets and Anan ,very close viewing. Consider some savings by booking Traitor's Cove direct, several independents fly there. For Brown salmon eaters, you could consider going to Haines- again assuming your trip is coming up?? Take the first ferry from Skagway- 0800, rent a car from Eagles Nest Hotel, about $50 and drive to Chilkoot lake. Fairly good sightings, but with a car you could spend the day and hope for the best. There are also bear viewing tours available, booked direct via Dolly Varden.

Yes, Leaving the 30th of July out of Vancouver to Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, & Sitka. Arriving Seward the 6th of Aug. & fly back to Fla. on the 13th. Still need a rental car & hotel/motel in Seward. No one will return my e-mail & online Hertz has no cars available & they seem to be the only ones there.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hertz is the ONLY rental agency that allows one way trips to Anchorage. Plan on taking the train to Anchorage- one per day leaving at 6pm. A bus is grossly inferior travel. There are plenty of good B&B's with the hotel Edgewater a great choice. You better get going with reservations- it will be tough. Hopefully you have all your following reservations made? Are you on your own or with a tour interior??? If on your own, consider staying at the new Ramada- free shuttle to/from both rail and airport. Very convenient for picking up a cheap round trip Anchorage rental car.
