Flights to Anchorage

Where is the best site to find airfares to Anchorage? I have been checking them all (I think!), but they seem to be high. I have to go to a conference in ANC in May, from Grand Rapids, MI (GRR). Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide

I usually check kayak.com for comparisons of flights. Entering dates of 5/10-17 I got fares GRR-ANC about $650 for 2-stop flights, a little over $700 for 1-stop. No nonstops showed up.

My crystal ball tells me airfares are on their way up rather than down.

Prices may vary a little due to demand from cruise people later in the month.

Delta seems cheapest via Atlanta; Alaska or American quickest via Chicago.

Remember that GRR-ATL-ANC is farther than GRR-Boston-London. Jet fuel is jet fuel.

We just booked thru AAA for 2 flights aboard Delta 5/29 from PITTS thru Salt Lake City to ANC & returning 6/14 thru Atlanta to PITTS & our total price was $616.08 pp. We checked thru kayak, QIXO, direct airline sites & many other search engines on our own & AAA came up with the best rate for us. I think Gail is correct in airfares only going up, up & up. The shocker for us was our rental car rate for 2 wks (pick up in Seward & drop off in ANC which I know tacked on $$) was as much as our 2 airline tickets. Oh well...you only live once!

You might get significant savings on a rental car, if you haven't already, just rent the one way Seward car for only as long as you need it, keeping track of the 24 hour clock. I then, turn it in when I get to Anchorage (or leave) and pick up a cheaper round trip Anchorage car.

There are many rentals available.

The quickest flights are one-stops via MSP on NWA, although the 35-minute connect outbound is tight.

Not a bad gamble, tho, because if you miss it NWA has other ways to get you there out of that hub.

It's showing up at $723 (for those dates Gail mentioned) -- and gets you there faster than any other option, including just over 7 1/2 hours on the return.
