Phoenix with little kids-- help!!

My husband and I are visiting Phoenix (or suburb) for a week in March with a 3 year old and a 6 month old. We would like to stay at a hotel that has a nice pool and casual dining, but the resorts seem very pricey. We aren't even sure what area to look into..

We also plan on going to the zoo and to a Brewer's game. Any other ideas?

The hotels are pricey in March because of Spring Training.

(There's a zoo in Phoenix? Who knew?)

So, are you looking for very upscale (like the Phoenician or Hyatt Gainey Ranch)? Or more modest?

Geez, I just got something in my email for $179 for the Biltmore resort fee included. I wish they would have sent me that 3 weeks ago.

I found out very recently that driving around Phoenix on the freeway, might be a few minutes faster than walking. In what area will you be staying? I was surprised that when I went to get a map of Phoenix at AAA, I ended up with 2. It's huge!

sf7307, another surprising thing about Phoenix is that they have a very good art musuem (not the Heard) and a beautiful new library.

I did and it's a very nice one. I'm not sure if the cactus flowers will be in bloom. If they are blooming when you're there, we enjoyed walking through the outdoor arboretum, but I'm not sure that would be something the kids would find enjoyable. There are some really beautiful flowers, however.

You might enjoy the Wildlife World Zoo on the west side of the Phoenix area better than the Phoenix Zoo.

For child friendly activities in the Phoenix area, check out the Raising Arizona Kids website.

It's the Phoenix Art Museum , they have a surprising collection. When we were there the Modern Art was in storage but their Contemporary collection was very sastifying. Even though, I went for the Modern.

Meant to say, we ran out of time and didn't make it to the Heard, although I would have liked to have gone.
