Phoenix for the weekend

Hi- I'm heading to Phoenix with my daughter who is 17 for the weekend. We'll be there for a concert Saturday night but we'll have Saturday daytime and all day Sunday and we come home on Monday. She's never been to Phoenix and I haven't been there in quite a few years. Any suggestions of what I should make sure I take her to? We will have a car and can drive a reasonable distance. Just don't want to take up too much of our weekend in a car. We are from NJ so I'm excited to show her the amazing valley views =) Thank you in advance for any thoughts.

On Sunday, you could head up early morning to Sedona..2 hour drive..
Stunning and go hiking and have a lovely lunch at Enchantment resort...make reservations, since it is gated 5* resort.
Hike next door at Boynton Canyon and visit the 7 vortexes..

Hit the Rock Springs Cafe for the best pie place at Rock Springs exit on the way home..there is a great turquoise jewelry place next door that is an open air market...cheap but great stuff.

Rock Springs Café for a slice is a must in Black Canyon, outside of PHX on the 17.

Saturday, Taliesin West tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home and the hit up AZ Biltmore (Lloyd Wright built and designed) for lunch after tour.

Pizzeria Bianco for pizza is really good too.

Have fun!

With your limited time in Phoenix, you might not want to spend hours in the car going to and from Sedona. Local online publications AZCentral and Phoenix New Times will tell you some of the things happening in and around Phx.

Downtown Tempe,ASU area, may be of interest to your daughter and you. If you enjoy outdoor activities, hiking on of the trails at Squaw Peak ( now called Piestewa Peak), especially to enjoy the sunset, or one of the many trails at South Mountain might be of interest.

There is also the touristy things like horseback riding or jeeping in the desert, hot air balloon ride over the desert.

You could visit the Desert Botanical Gardens, the Arizona Science Museum or the Musical Instrument Museum

Maybe fly into Phoenix for the concert Saturday night and then head down to Tucson, which is a great city to spend time in (2 hr drive) and then fly out of Tucson as well.
