Philadelphia Academy of Music Tickets
Will be in Philadelphia 4/2 thru 4/6 and would like to see live show -- thinking of one at Academy of Music -- what is the best place to get tickets? Any discounts anywhere?

The only show at the Academy of Music at that time is the musical _Sister Act_. Would that be good enough for you?
Stubhub does has discounted tickets for this show

And this will probably be as good a place as any for bargains.
Here's the schedule for the Kimmel, Academy, and Merriam for that month:

PIFA will be taking place at this time, and here's some music and theater for this festival:

PaulRabe, I'm curious what you mean about StubHub's "discounted tickets" and "as good a place as any for bargains". I took a quick look at StubHub and it appears that the cheapest seats they sell are for $79 -- and those are side amphitheatre seats that normally sell full price for only $20! That's a discount? Meanwhile other seats I saw were for above $100 each which are normally sold in the range of $40 to $80.
Why not deal directly with Academy of Music and their OFFICIAL ticket agency instead of paying up to 4 times as much to buy them through Stub Hub? Or am I missing something here?

No -- *I* am the one who missed something simply because I didn't bother to look. Basically, I should not have used the word "discounted." And I should have said, "If any discount tickets are available, Stubhub is the best place to look for them."
Stubhub is a facilitator for ticket re-sellers, and their prices may or may not be lower than the price one could get by buying direct from the original source. My experience when using Stubhub is that their prices are much lower than list price, but that is not always the case. When I saw ANY tickets available for these shows, I simply assumed they would be a discount. Which was, plain and simple, a mistake.
But I did not simply mis-speak -- I was WRONG. Sorry.

Paul, no problem. And I didn't check to see if individual tickets are even on sale yet directly for that production in April. Sometimes they don't offer anything but season tickets until about two months ahead of the event. But my experience with Stub Hub has been very different from yours. I have yet to see a good deal there -- except for totally sold out events when price is no longer is an object.

I don't know if you're interested in dramatic theater at all, but if you are, A Raisin in the Sun is playing during that timeframe at the Arden Theater in Old City. I've enjoyed almost everything I've seen at the Arden.
