PG accommodation in Brooklyn for Students
One of my friend son is coming to Brooklyn in August end to pursue his 2 year post graduation studies and looking for paying guest accommodation. Though he prefer to stay in Brooklyn but something near by will also work for him. Please suggest.

While it is true than quite a few colleges don;t offer accommodations, especially for graduate students I am not aware of any that doesn't have a service helping students to facilitate apartment shares with other students and having listings of locals who may be renting out rooms.
If you tell us the name of the school someone here can provide the contact info for the service for this school.

Obviously it's not an American term, but jeez, was it so hard to understand??
It's possible that for postgraduate study, assistance from the university is limited or nonexistent. Or perhaps the OP just wants additional resources.
Tell your friend's son to look on Craig's List. It's the primary method for people looking for shared housing.

Don't you think the name of the school and the neighborhood is basic to offering advice?
I am trying to help a nephew find a sublet or a share and it is not that easy. He has tried Craig's list, he grew up on Long Island and went to NYU so he is not a stranger to the area.
Additionally, google Craig's List and read the horror stories.

You (OP) need to understand the cultural landscape in the US vis-a-vis student housing. Most university students who live off campus do not live with host families or in furnished rooms or rooming houses; they live in shared apartments where each roommate furnishes his/her own room and contributes to furnishing the common rooms, and all divide the rent and utilities and often other costs (cable, Wifi, sometimes food).
As an example, this is a service provided by Harvard to help its students who live off campus to find housing:
https://harvardhousingoffcampus.com/
Almost certainly, as has been said above, your friend's son's university has a similar office with resources for NYC.
He should study carefully a map of the NYC subway, the stops near the school and close to any housing he is considering, whether there is a direct subway line and how many stops. New Yorkers get around by subway.
Craigslist does seem to be a major source for finding apartment shares with other students or young people needing roommates, and also for posting the son's own requirements for others to see.

DO NOT USE CRAIGSLIST TO FIND HOUSING IN NYC.
I can't stress strongly enough how scammy Craigslist is for housing in NYC. That's really a horrible recommendation. If there's no housing office at this college, then use any other means but Craigslist.

When the school and the neighborhood are revealed, then more suggestions can be revealed.
It cannot be Columbia or NYU because they have sources for grad students. CUNY could be a problem, but maybe they have a reciprocal agreement with some other institution.
There are still many other schools with grad programs including Pratt, Pace, and Fordham.

For some reason, I got the feeling there was some miscommunication between the OP, the friend, and the son. While some schools do not offer housing for grad students, I would be surprised if the they did not offer some indirect help.

PG = Post Graduate not "paying guest"
The original poster {OP} needs to contact the "Housing Office" at the school.
Clearly, new posters don't know the abbreviations here. And they probably didn't know they HAD to come back within 36 hours or they would be chided and won't receive info that might help.
