Pfeiffer Big Sur Park or Muir Woods

We really would like to see some large redwoods. Had planned to go to Muir Woods, but we will be in the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park area and wonder if that might be a good choice and skip Muir Woods. Thanks for your help.

When I was at Pfeiffer I didn't see any real huge redwoods. Muir woods would have larger trees I think. Better yet you might want to try Big Basin SP or Henry Cowell SP. They are both on the way to Big Sur. Huge trees in both places.

Maryanne is right on the money with either Big Basin or Henry Cowell State Parks. Personally, I think that Big Basin is more impressive. You can check out the following links for more information on each of these parks

Another vote for Big Basin for redwoods.

If you want to see the largest and most impressive redwood trees, you would need to go to Kings Canyon National Park, southeast of Fresno. There you will see the famous General Grant tree,(It's the largest living redwood) and I believe during the holidays they call it the "Nations's Christmas Tree, or something like that. There are a few hotels in the area, check the website. Google on "General Grant Tree." These trees are really impressive! In the winter there is usually snow, very beautiful.
