Pet Friendly hotels in Montauk?

does anyone know of any that allow dogs. Would love to take my labradoodle out of the city and to the beach. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks

I don;t know about hotels but I'm not aware of any beaches that are open to dogs. The state parks allow them only in non-bathing areas and on leashes less than 6' long. And I don;t think the town beaches allow them at all.

There are quite a few different websites for dog friendly hotels all over the country. Oceanside Beach Resort comes up on several
http://www.montauk-online.com/?s=Lodging/Pet+Friendly and it gets mixed reviews on tripadvisor. It is right on the ocean though.

Snug Harbor Resort & Marina also comes up on that one and Hither House Cottages comes up on a few others. Snug Harbor is across from a lake. There is a glowing review of Hither Hills Cottages from last year at this time from a family who brought their lab.

The rules I find online (and which the reviewer above states):
Dogs are not allowed on the beaches between 9am-6pm from May 15 through the end of September. No restrictions apply for the remainder of the year. Montauk has no leash laws and dogs may run freely on the beach when permitted. Owners are expected to exercise caution, particularly on crowded beaches, and to clean up after their dogs.

I will also add, while I can't speak for Montauk, there are certain beaches in the Hamptons that get known to be dog friendly beaches despite signs to the contrary. I'm not suggesting you break the law (or get a summons) but just know, esp. this early in the season, you may see dogs on the beach. If you come during the week, it's even more relaxed.

The rules I quoted were for Montauk State Park - not for the town beaches. But most will not be happy if you bring a dog on a beach with people bathing - esp families.

Go to www.petswelcome.com for a listing by state of hotels, motels, B&B's etc. who take dogs. We use it all the time.

DO NOT STAY AT THE OCEANSIDE BEACH RESORT. I stayed here last weekend because they allow dogs and it was the most disgusting place I've ever had to spend a night. The owners don't give a care about anything. There was a birds next on the light outside our door and bird poop all over the entrance. Naturally, they're not going to relocate this nest as they have a giant bird in a cage in the motel office. The bathroom was like a prison bathroom with the nastiest little sink ever. Blankets were torn and tattered and even though I was told to bring my own sheets by a friend who warned me it was kind of a dump, it was beyond a dump. No A/C in the rooms, HOWEVER, sleeping with the windows open to get some breeze wasn't possible since the owners A/C from their living quarters made periodic buzzing noises so loud all night long you couldn't sleep. This is a nasty hellhole and I'm sick that I paid $265 a night for such a disgusting place. I asked for an hour after 11am to checkout-of course not. I asked why I had a building in front of my balcony instead of the view I was promised. Did they move us? Of course not. Shady folks run this place. Just gross. Sorry so long and rambling, but I don't want anyone to have to deal with this kind of disappointment because they want their pet with them.
