penn station area
I am in the process of coordinating a family get together in NYC. Family members will be coming into Penn Station from either Long Island or Jersey.
Any recommendations on things to do/see close to Penn that won't break the bank?
How about restaurants? Looking for a nice ambience for lunch.
Thanks in advance!

It would help to know how many people and their ages - all adults or some kids (how old) andy seniors with mobility problems? Also, waht have you already seen/done in the city. And for a meal - what kind of budget are you looking at?

One relatively new decent restaurant in the area is Ayza. It's right near the Empire State building which while iconic, is not a great experience. I think you have to tell us how many you are, how much time you have to spend and whether these folks have been to NYC before. Heading to Times Square is more exciting but also more crowded. Heading to Rockefeller Center is maybe a better idea and maybe going to Top of the Rock and then having lunch. You can walk from Penn station but you can also take a subway, bus or taxi. Try looking at some distances on maps.google.com
