I love how this thread has evolved without my even trying, into restaurant/food discussion. It's almost as if you know me I figured one of my next stops in planning is to check out the Chowhound Denver board, which I'll do, but if other folks want to chime in with opinions here too, I'm all ears!

Parking on Pearl is bad, I have a friend that lives off of 7th and Pearl always hard to find parking. If you are staying at the one in Larimer, you have to factor in now that Denver has 24/7 smart meters they just installed this past week.

Really the closer you get to Colfax around the 1500/1600 block of Pearl is where you find "Denvers finest"

Cap Hill you are still close to things, but, if I was visiting I would want to be downtown honestly, close to everything, no need for a car until you want to go to the mountains.

I am glad you booked the Larimer location. You can walk all over downtown from there.
We like the Chophouse restaurant, in an historic building downtown. It has good prices (can get sandwiches and pizza for dinner, too) and a fun atmosphere. Not fine dining, though. There are many, many restaurants to choose from downtown. You will be happy with your location. Have fun in Denver!
