My English is my second languge. I'm trying to research what looks like a verb "bulk" Patrick wrote. Is this slang? Is it airline industry talk?

Also I find this portion funny : "My pants are soaked all the way to my waste." Is the "waste" the area of the body below the "waist"?!?

I think Patrick might have meant "balk" as in "to refuse".

Maybe Patrick was also "wasted" when he wrote about his waist?!? Just a thought (I know I would be after the trauma of his flight)

Rex, Why don't you "research what looks like" relaxation & not be so picky?! Most of us know a typo when we see it & let it go!
And, to Patrick ( & Hugo!): Hope you are sitting in the sun in NYC today!

Patrick, that has to be the worst gawdawful Florida travel story I've ever heard. I'm sure the chamber will spank you when you return.

Intrepid, I do NOT enjoy eating at Sardi's, but I love having a pre-theatre drink there at either the upstairs or the downstairs bar -- and of course then I DO eat the horseradish cheese.

I was rushing to type this out this morning before we went off for a day of "work". I just noticed my typos "bulk" and "waste" and laughed at them. Too bad others don't have the ability to laugh at what was clearly (as someone else mentioned) a typo. The verb I was attempting to use was "balk". But since my pants were virtually ruined, I guess it was all the way to the "waste" after all.

We see Spamalot next Tuesday, also from front row mezzanine. Looking forward to that as well as the full line up of 10 shows we've booked. Tonight is Doubt, followed by dinner at Bar Americain, the new Bobby Flay place where Judson Grill used to be.

I'll be doing a complete trip report either as we go along, or at the end. Never fear, you'll all get more information than you'll need or want!

McLaurie, we got this apartment through NYHabitat. They contacted me with it as the first option of an owner willing to rent just for a week (actually 8 nights) a couple months ahead of time. The owner told us he only registered it with them a few months ago as it is his apartment he lives in, but he spends more time working in Miami and in Candada, so thought it would be good to rent it out. He has quite a bit of personal stuff in the place, but left us enough room to hang clothes up, etc.

And to all the rest of you, YES it is all worth it to be in New York. This city rejuvenates me!

I don't know Patrick, but maybe you had better hire a linguist before posting anymore. I'm looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip. Well, at least New York has great shopping so you could replace those drenched pants.

Patrick, I've always believed that the worst day of vacation travel was better than the best day at work. After reading about your travel day, I had to rethink that for a minute. But seeing how you ended your eventful day with a great show and a hearty meal, I still think that is true. Have a great visit.

Wow, Patrick, what a day! At least now you know which of your belongings are water proof. And you didn't "waist" your time posting this report!

Patrick,
I feel your pain over the weather in your neighborhood on Wednesday. We were traveling to the Keys via I75 about the time your were going to the airport.
What horrible weather.
We are in the Keys right now and the rain hasn't let up yet!
Hope you have a great NY vacation!

Phew, Patrick, I thought you had lost it and dined at Sardi's. Glad to hear your strong denial of same and, thus, restore your reputation.

Patrick,
I am so glad that the saying is true for you, All is well that ends well..especially if your jacket revives after a visit to a NYC dry cleaner.
It rained tonight in Jax but just while we were at dinner, guess it was just Floridas way to say that it would be sad here without you

Have a wonderful time, I look forward to hearing about all the Food and Fun times ahead!

What an ordeal! NYC is one of those places that you'll endure just about anything to visit. I can't wait to hear how Bar Americain is... I was torn between there and the Mesa Grill and I ended up at the Mesa Grill. It was wonderful, but I'm hoping to try Bobby Flay's new place next time around. And I just love drinks at Sardi's - the cheese is the best part!

Oh Patrick, what a mensch you are to go through that hellish day with your sense of humor and your wits intact!
Funny, but your itinerary includes exactly exactly what we did this past Saturday - Spamalot and Bar Americaine. Herewith:
Spamalot is just extremely silly fun. A witty and not so sly parody of Andrew Lloyd Weber/disneyfied musicals, everyone is having a great time on stage, dancing and singing and watching their very talented colleagues dance and sing. Tim Curry is completely enjoyable - along with everyone else in the show. Sara Ramirez is terrific (her big number, "Whatever Happened to My Part?" is a major crack-up). We had a great time. The theatre is actually pretty small, so first row mezzanine will be great seats.
I hope you enjoyed Bar Americaine - we certainly did - did you get to try the squash blossoms stuffed with pulled pork? - we all loved that . . the desserts were excellent, the service was topnotch - it almost made us forget Judson Grill . . . .

Hope you and Lee have a great time while you're here . . .
