I booked today and dealt with a wonderful lady named Holly who took all the time in the world with me and answered all my questions. She also signed me up with the Hilton points program so maybe I'll benefit by that sometime down the road.

Jd, I'd still be very interested in hearing about your stay there. And thanks, GoT, for your help. Nearing December, let's make a real plan to get together!

goddess, there is metered parking around the Hilton but it would be a giant PIA.

Did you ask if the $29 was valet or self park? Maybe self parking is cheaper?

I think there's only valet parking but even if there is self-park, whatever you do it's $29.

I've resigned myself to the $319 parking cost for our stay there!

goddess, I just remembered something.

Did you check rates at the Courtyard By Marriott Fort Lauderdale Beach?

It is right in the same stretch of hotels right on A1A. A couple of doors down from the Hilton and next door to the W Hotel.

They just went a multi million dollar renovation. I believe it was the old Doubletree. It is gorgeous!

Thanks, GoT, I did look at that one and it's quite a bit more expensive, possibly because they don't offer a seniors discount at that time of year. The Hilton looks gorgeous, though. Wish I were there right now!

goddess-We are back from the Hilton. Our room was a 2 queen bed studio, and the beds were really comfortable, and the room was nice. The kitchenette area had a frig, full size microwave, and a 2 burner cooktop, but only 1 plate, no utensils,no pan, 1 wine glass, 2 martini glasses included, and there was no table to eat at. I guess you could bring it out to the balcony. We had a room on the 25th floor which had awesome views of the beach and coastline. The bathroom is nice. When I filled the jacuzzi, the water was lime green. I forgot to ask about this. The pool area was really nice with lots of seating choices, from lounges to sun beds to couches.
The gym was nice, overlooked the pool, and I actually used it! The restaurant is small, and overpriced-drinks expensive. Valet parking was $29 like you said. To hook up to the internet was some ridiculous price so I didn't bother, and the price to use the internet in the business center was crazy too, so I didn't bother. Beach chairs available to rent for $10. Everyone we encountered there were friendly and helpful. All in all we had a great stay, but I still like Lago Mar better because I prefer the lush tropical grounds and pool area, and I like being directly on the beach.
Construction was on both sides of the hotel, with the Trump on 1 side, and the "W" on the other. Noise was considerable out on the balcony, but I didn't notice any noise by the pool area. They did have some piped in music. By December I would imagine construction would be over.
I posted a review on Tripadvisor with pictures.

Thanks for the very thorough review, jd. It sounds fine to me. The table issue isn't a biggy -- my SO just likes to have some breakfast stuff in the room because he gets up earlier than I do and it's usually just a muffin or some fruit. And I really, really would like him to NOT bring his laptop on this vacation. I suppose if he had to, we could find an internet cafe with better rates.

I'm hoping the construction will be over by then too, or at least they'll just be working on the interiors.

I'm going to read your TA review and see your pics!

Thanks again.
