Parasailing in MAUI !!!

Planning on going Parasailing in June while visiting Maui. This will be my first time! Need information, suggestions, warnings, and parasailing operators.

Thanks!

p.s. (Will I get motion-sickness?)

It was my first time too, but in the Bahamas. The main thing to do is to follow the instructions, then relax and enjoy it. My experience was a little hairy because it was quite windy, but I've heard other people, apparently on calmer days, descibe it as boring! I can't imagine it ever being so. I found the view absolutely gorgeous and the whole experience quite fun...and funny. (And I'm afraid of water.)

Never did Parasailing in Maui. Try the Trilogy trip to Lanai. In 8 trips to Maui, it is the best excursion we went on. About $150 each but it's all day and the feed you breakfast and lunch and a snack. You'll get to see Lanai and spend time on a beautiful beach. Need to book ahead as it gets booked up.
Aloha

Hi Nancee.
We didn't go parasailing in Maui, but we did in Kona. The company we went through was UFO Parasail (They have an office in Maui too) and they were great. The operators were funny, and very reassuring (since I was a tad bit nervous). It was a very relaxing and beautiful ride. And you shouldn't get motion-sickness.

Actually when my husband was parasailing, the guides noticed there were some dolphins playing around, so they lowered my husband down so he could get a really good look at them. So that was pretty nice of them to do that.

Parasailing was definitely one of the highlights of our trip!

I would also like info about parasailing in Maui. My husband & I will be there in Sept. I've seen the websites of West Maui Parasail & UFO Parasail. The tandem (chair-like) ride looked most appealing. Has anyone done this? How realistic is it to take a camcorder on the ride? Also, how far in advance for reservations? Thanks for any help.

Went to Maui for thankgiving 98 and had a great trip. My son (17) and daughter (10) went tandum with UFO parasail. We postponed one day due to wind and the following day was calm and clear. My son strapped video around his neck and took some great film (make sure strap is secure to camera). His sister was relieved that he was right next to her as it was her first time. BY the way, they went tandum because she weighed to little and you are side by side not one behind the other. Have fun.

I don't know about the tandem method, but as for taking up a camera, I think you'd have to decide that at the moment. It should be OK on a calm day, but if it's windy, you can get jerked around suddenly and violently. My husband, therefore, took a disposable type - and wound up with big bruises on his arms and rather disappointing pictures.
