Palm Desert in March

We will be taking a trip to Palm Desert the end of March and we're trying to decide where to stay. The Lodge at Rancho Mirage? The Miramonte Resort at Indian Wells? Rancho Las Palmas? La Quinta? We want clean, friendly and pools. Thanks for any info.

My choice would be La Quinta. Probably the nicest place in the area. Next would be the Lodge, & a very distant 3rd Miramonte.

Stayed recently in Rancho Mirage at the Hilton Garden Inn. Very nice, clean and had a good pool. They were very friendly there and the price was good too. Not a Resort though. VERY EASY to get around in Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage area. You can drive everywhere easily.

We stayed at the La Quinta August before last and I thought the lobby and our room looked a little shabby. The lobby carpet was dirty and really worn. It was okay because we got a great price in the off season (113 degrees!) I would check to see if has been renovated recently.

Thanks for your help. My husband and I and our 17 and 20 yr old daughters will be making the trip to Palm Desert with us in late March. We love luxury but will require 2 rooms and the quotes I've received are extremely expensive at La Quinta and Desert Springs Marriott. $399 and up per room per night times 2 rooms!! We like the resort scene but does anyone have a suggestion for a nice resort with more reasonable rates?

If you have the entertainment card, the Marriott's usually have extremely discounted rooms available...

We just stayed at the Lodge. To our dismay it was going under a major rehab. Our room was not one of the rehabs and it was shabby and not on the immediate calendar for a re-do. The entrance and front rooms will be done by March, but lots of other areas need work. Call them and check on their plans. If you go, demand a newly refurbished room. You can't beat the view from the pool!
