Paid Surveys - Can you really make money .

My fiance and I would like to make some extra cash before our Wedding next year. We need this cast for wedding expenses since we both have to bring family from overseas for the event. We both travel for work and we were thinking of doing paid surveys. The website we were looking a is Paid Surveys Etc (www.paidsurveysetc.com). Can fodorites who have used this website please comment on this company. Also, is there a good company fodorites can recommend that would help us earn extra cash working part time form home. We live in Canada, alot of the companies that we have looked at only do business in the US.

Thanks in advance.

Never heard of this one - but most of those make money at home things are scams. Often you have to invest up front for their software or classes or something - and then jobs never come through. Or - it takes 6 months of work to pay off the up-front expenses.

You're better off getting a real second job - that you know exists and you'll be paid for.

Don't mean to be discouraging. You can do some jobs from home.

I'm working part time from home now (my choice). But - it's as a consultant in a field I know a lot about and have been working in for years. And I do projects for people that I have known from previous jobs - and companies that I know are reputable. (And even then, some of them are a little slow to pay - 6 to 8 weeks for one - until I refused to do the next project.)

I checked out the web-site you mentioned and it appears to be a typical "earn BIG MONEY in your spare time" scheme. These types of deals have been around for decades. Originally they were advertized in newspapers and magazines. Now, of course, it's on the internet. You'd be surprised at how many people believe that if they see something on the internet it must be legitimate.

The only person who makes money from this is the person YOU send the enrollment fee to. If you read the website carefully you'll notice it contains lots of promises of big money but no actual information on how it's actually done. You only get that information AFTER you send in your money. Of course, after you send the money and get the necessary information you usually find it is actually worthless.

These scams prey upon people who are looking for a fast easy way to make a buck. Unfortunately, making money is not easy, it requires work.

Ask yourself, if this is such a great opportunity, why isn't everyone already doing it? Do you really believe the person running the web-site is is so altruistic that he/she is willing to share the "secrets" of earning $1,000, $2,000, $3,000 or more while sitting at home watching soap operas for a mere $49?

While it is true that many major businesses conduct surveys and focus groups to test new ideas or products these are normally done through legitimate Market Research Firms who recruit people to participate in specific surveys and focus groups based on scientific representative samples of a target population. Many times they select people because they have specific interests, live in a certain area or have a pre-determined income level, etc. Often they want people who have not participated in a survey or focus group in say the last 6 months. Yes, it is true that they pay a participant for their time and opinion but it's never very much and you certainly can't participate in enough surveys to earn a living or even supplement your income on a reliable basis.

I used to work for a market research firm and I can tell you NOBODY gets rich participating in surveys and focus groups. It just isn't feasible.

Remember the old adage, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

Agree - no market research company would go back to the same people again and agian for info.

Those participating are picked based on specific requirements (gender, age, income, interests - based on the purpose of the survey). And the pay for each is minimal. And usually if you've done another survey recently you're automatically eliminated.

Would you accept any job that asked you to pay them before they paid you?

assuming you are actually serious and not promoting your website here, the simple answer is this and all other websites like this are a scam. there are legitimate market research companies in major cities. you can sign up to be in their database and they will call you once in a while. you never pay them. they only pay you. the rule is that you can't participate in more than one study like that every 6 months.

if you want to work from home, you can do sales or some sort. you can also sell stuff for people on eBay if you learn that system.
