Pacific Beach or La Jolla

We will be first timers to San diego the first week of March. We are considering the Crystal Pier, Pacific Terrace or Scripps Inn? We are mid forties and want to go out at night on foot. Also we are considering the Photo Caravan at the San Diego Wild Animal Park? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Since you're not getting any other replies, I'll throw in my two cents. Actually, it's only about one cent since I'm only familiar with Pacific Terrace--we stayed there last March and loved it. Especially enjoyed the complimentary breakfasts each morning and the wine hour each night. Turn down service was also a nice touch (with shell-shaped chocolates on the pillows ) It was so relaxing sitting on the balcony and watching the surf. I'd stay there again.

if you like really upscale places, choose downtown la jolla. personally, i'd go for the pacific terrace. it is a great locations, gets great reviews and there are a lot of restaurants to walk to. try to get an ocean view room. you can walk the boardwalk along the ocean, the bay is only a block or two away for quieter walks, plenty of places to rent bikes, blades, boogy boards (if you want to tackle the cold water).

No problem with boogy boarding in the cold ocean. You can rent wetsuits at most places that rent the boards. My daughter and her friend did this and played in the cold March ocean for hours--brrr!
