Need a nice place in La Jolla
We are heading to San Diego in 10 days and would like a nice place with an ocean/beach view. Either with 3 bedroom suites or an adjoining hotel rooms. Is La Jolla the best place to go as we want to go to the zoo and Sea World. We don't want to spend more than 150 night for a room.

La Jolla is a very pricey area, and you definitely would have a hard time finding a place that size in your price range. You actually are going to have a hard time anywhere on the water. You might try Point Loma or Ocean beach. Your other option would be to go on VRBO.com and see if you can find a condo or house to rent. Sea World is close to Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach and Point Loma. The Zoo is inland about 15 minutes from those locations.

La Jolla is the most beautiful place in the San Diego area. We stayed at Scripps Inn, with a fantastic view of the ocean and the sound of the waves. Seals' beach was right across the hotel entrance.

Is this a joke?
You want oceanfront in LJ with a 3 bedroom hotel suite in La Jolla, one of the most expensive places in the US to live?
You might be able to get a room at the Hotel LJ for around $160 a night...off season.
BW Inn by the sea is cheap for around $130 and its a couple of blocks from the ocean.
Your best bet is to go to Homewood suites in Del Mar/Mira Mesa or Liberty Station for around $160+ a night and drive to the ocean..it has 2 rooms.

The Marriott Coronado Island has lovely views of the water and San Diego. Probably over budget.

If you hunt, you can probably find something off season(now till 3/31). We hunted NCounty and found a room at the La Costa Resort sub 200
While looking I noticed a 3 star waterfront place on shelter island(good local for Zoo, SW) for sub 100...Half Moon Bay resort

Thanks for all your input. Being my first visit to San Diego I will take all of your advice and throw a dart, enjoy what I pick. I have found lots of different rooms in La Jolla for under $150 like the Best Western Inn on the Sea. And for Ksucat no I am not crazy, $150 for a room or $300 for a 2 bedroom suite can be found. The Bay Club looks real nice also for under $150.00 per night.
