Pacific Beach, CA safe area to stay?
Is Pacific Beach a safe area to stay with a 2 1/2 year old, my husband will be working during the day and I won't have a car. Planned on hanging at the beach and strolling to eat during the day.
I had a read a few posts on tripadvisor.com that this area can be "seedy" just wanted to see if others had opinions on this.
Thanks

Are you staying in PB because your husband has to work in the area, or is it just a beach community you've randomly chosen?
If so - without a car, and with a toddler, there are better places for you to enjoy your time if you're looking for a mellow place while your husband is at work.
Coronado might be a better option that has cleaner beaches and is more pedestrian friendly.

agree with giro's post above. i think pd is a fun, upbeat area to stay in. great board walk on the ocean side or if it happens to be windy that day, cross the road and walk on the bay side. plenty of restaurants around to choose from that are suitable for 2 1/2 yr old. there are also plenty of buses that stop in that area so you could probably just hop on one to go to la jolla for an afternoon. there are often a few "homeless" looking people down there but they are just hanging at the beach and won't bother you. where are you staying? pacific terrace or the catamaran would be my suggestions.
