Oyster Bay is beautiful BUT it's all residential. To my knowledge there are no hotels or inns. I've done a web search for you & found nothing really nearby that was anything more than a motel/motor lodge. The only nice hotel in the area is the Garden City Hotel, but it's not really close to Oyster Bay. Don't know if you'll be on a private boat or what your route is. I do know the town of Port Jefferson, also on the north shore of Long Island but further east has some charming looking hotels/inns. There may be better options on the Connecticut side of Long Island Sound if that's an option.

Thank you so much for your research. Maybe we should spend that night on the boat or go somewhere by car. Would Port Jeff be the place you'd recommend that's within driving distance?

I also agree that you would be better going to the Connecticut side of Long Island Sound (i.e., the North Shore"). There is an excellent luxury resort in Greenwich, Connecticut. It is called the Delmar Greenwich Harbor Hotel. It is part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, group, take a look at shl.com. Is right on the harbour, and has its own private pier where you can dock the boat. Info is as follows:

DELAMAR Greenwich Harbor
500 Steamboat Road,
Greenwich, Connecticut 06830
USA
Tel: +1 203 661 9800
Fax: +1 203 661 2513
Email: [email protected]
SLH Website: www.slh.com/delamar

There are lots of nice restaurants in the area as well.

Another option might be Great Neck on Long Island. There is a hotel on the website of Small Luxury Hotels, don't know anything about it, but being a member of SLH is usually a good indicator. Not sure about docking here s the hotel is in the town, not on the water.

Inn at Great Neck
30 Cutter Mill Rd
Great Neck, New York 11021
USA
Tel: +1 516 773 2000
Fax: +1 516 773 2020
Email: [email protected]
SLH Website: www.slh.com/greatneck/

You could get into Manhattan from Great Neck fairly easily by train. You could do the same from Greenwich, although the train ride would probably be about 30 minutes longer than from Great Neck.

Stay in Bayville.
The Mill River Inn is one of the best rated restaurants on the island.

Nicest hotel near oyster bay is the fox hollow inn in syosset/woodbury area. Quite a few resturants in the area too. Check this area out on the internet.
