Outlet Stores/Good Shopping in Mid-Atlantic

I'm planning a DC/beach trip for August. I still haven't firmed up if we'll try the DE beaches or drive down to OBX/NC. Are there some good shopping areas in either place that would appeal to tweens/teens for back to school shopping?

Blueslipper! Tweens and teens! They will love the many shopping outlets in the Rehoboth area and the Boardwalk, http://www.tangeroutlet.com/), look online for a RB boardwalk live video cam.

I note on your other thread that LN may have put some good luck in your lap! That is still a good location to visit the outlets but not be with the masses all day!

The Boardwalk for fun not outlet shopping (tho, typical beach shopping available).

Thanks for the link Den - I'll check it out. I also looked up LN's tip on Trip Advisor - the reviews are definitely mixed. It may be our only option though...nothing set yet!

If you decide to do DC and Ocean City you might also be interested in the Outlets at Queenstown, which is close to the Chesapeake Bay bridge. These are very nice outlets and probably not as heavily shopped as Rehoboth's are.

As to the hotels in Ocean City to Rehoboth. We've stayed in so many of them from the old Harrison's down on the boardwalk up to the Sheraton Fountainbleau and then into Delaware and their hotels. We finally stopped when the family bought a place at the beach. At any of the hotels if the room wasn't right we'd call and complain and they'd move us or straight out the problem. The hotels get a LOT of use - even those in Outer Banks.

If you're planning on staying 4 days or so you might get a better price/deal on staying in a condo. And the condos that are ocean side as well as those that are bay side are much less than oceanfront. Also if you're thinking condo those condos north of 83rd St in OC are more family oriented. In Rehoboth the Henlopen area used to be good.

Again good luck - hope this helps.
