We leave next Wednesday for our trip to Maui.
Here's a rundown of what we have planned so far. I will post a trip report when we get back!

Staying at the Westin for the first 3 nights.

We'll go see Warren and Annabelle's Magic show the second night. On the third day of the trip we're thinking about going to both the Iao Valley and Haleakala. I wanted to go to Haleakala at sunset instead of sunrise...hopefully to avoid the crowds and the bikes.

On Saturday we'll drive to Hana and stay at the Kauamanu Cottage that is rented through Hana Ali'i Holidays. We're looking forward to taking our time and seeing the sites along the way.

The last 3 nights we'll be at the Outrigger in Wailea. We'll do a morning snorkel trip to Molokini with Four Winds II.

Does anyone have any good restaurant recommendations for a vegetarian (non-vegan).

Sorry. If you call the Renn. ahead you can find out what's on the menu or what they can prepare for you. If Cindy is in the kitchen ask for her! Finding vegetarian food in Hawaii is quite easy vs. the mainland. Also the rest. in the Maui Prince hotel is great! Casual rest. in central Maui try Down to Earth, a health food store, cafe, deli and bakery. Also, A Saigon Cafe, Lemongrass, South Shore Grinds (vegie taro burgers), Royal Thai Cuisine, Pita Paradise, and The Vegan Rest. in Paia. Anyone else have any last minute tips for us??

A few quick tips
1) Haleakala is very cold no matter what time you go.
2) If you hike, there is a trail above the 7 sacred pools area of Hana that leads thru a bamboo forest and gorgeous scenery to a secluded 400ft waterfall,r/t travel about 2hours.
3) If you like to hunt for shells, ask the hotel in Wailea where the black sand beach is by Makena Beach, get there right after sunrise and you should have good luck. After a quik search of the high water mark on the sand, try in the lava rocks and tidepools to the right of the beach for best results(depending on tide).
4)Roy's in Khana and Mama's FishHouse in Paia are a must dining.
5) The guys selling weed beside the road on the way to Hana will usually rip you off.
