Orlando Disney 7th June or 27 Sep?

Hi,
Need a bit of help with when to go to disney.
We have been before at end of september and found the crowds and weather great (appart from the love bugs!) I have booked up to go june 7th for 2 weeks, just because i got a good deal but now after reading alot of reports i am starting to realise it was not such a good idea. i can now get sep 27th for just a little bit more in cost. Do you think i should change. We are a family with one child almost 4 years old and the thought of it being very hot and humid along with the hugh crowds i've read about, it's now not feeling like a great holiday in june. i have been on touring plans and looked at the attendance records and june is a 9 with sep/oct 4-5, i know this says it all but i would love some first hand experience on this. when do the schools let out?
thankyou very much.

June will be very hot and very crowded.
The crowds start during Memorial Day weekend and usually don't let up until late August. September would be a much better time to go.

September is great for Orlando. June I wouldnt touch with a ten ft pole. Although I cant imagine why September would be more expensive. Seems to me you should be able to get a better deal in September unless you really got a great fare the first time around.

Late September will be a very good time to go.

Actually, if you can wait a little bit, mid-late October is even better. The daytime high temperatures beging to drop out of the 90's, the humidity begins to drop and you see more blue skies and fewer tropical storms are on the horizon. Either way, have a wonderful time!

nicnic1, we are also going this year! Our kids will be 6 1/2 and 4. We booked the last week of Sept (22-28). That is the last week of their "value" summer/fall season.

We chose this time because of the history of lower crowds and it should not be quite as warm as summer. Maybe we'll see you there!

Thanks for your info but its bad news, my travelcompany mis-quoted me and it would now be £550 english pounds (forgot to say we are coming from england)which is about $1000 u.s dollars. We got a great deal for the pop century in june, Dont think i can justify such a big increase to go in sept. looks like i'll have to put up with the large crowds and the humidity. (is it really that bad??)
never mind i'm sure we'll have a fab time and there is always next year!
thanks again

My husband and I went in the first week in June 2 years ago. A lot of schools do not get out until late June, so the crowds were not horrible. I would recommend getting to the park early, then leave by 1pm! Go back to the hotel to cool off in the pool, take a nap, etc. Then, go back to the parks later, when its cooler and less crowded for dinner and more sightseeing. We stayed ahead of the crowds using the UnOfficail Guide book. It was great!

Also, it IS very hot in June. But its not unbearable. Disney is very family oriented, so they provide a lot of shady spots, "cool down" centers (with misty water sprays), and ice cream stands. Be sure to take a lot of breaks, and I would recommend to leave the park during the hottest hours.

I have lived in the greater Orlando area for 20 years. We have a sub-tropical climate. Here are three things to remember:

1- "Summer" lasts about 7 months (i.e. from mid-April-mid-October. By this, I mean that you can safely go to the beach during this time and enjoy yourself.

2- We basically have two season: hot and hotter (ha-ha!).

3- Even the locals know enough not to go to the theme parks during the "hotter" part of the summer. Water parks are the exception.

June, using Orlando Vic's definition of our seasons, is hotter (and humid!). So remember: SUNSCREEN and water. You'll need lots of both.

Steviegene's plan of going back to the hotel and relaxing in the worst of the afternoon heat is a very good one.

Is it your flight amount that is making the difference? If this helps, our week in September (22-29)is $2200 for four people and includes the room at Pop Century, 6 days in the parks and the meal plan. The "value" season ends October 3, so if you are looking at two weeks starting 9/27 maybe that is where the price increase lies.

If you do go in June, please do a trip report! I would love more info as our trip gets closer.

Best of luck!

Hi.
i dont know what aspect of the holiday is putting the price up, i'm going with virgin holidays and they have a great deal on for june inc flights and room £1500 ($2800) for the 3 of us for 2 weeks, no meal or park tickets though. My hubby says he can manage the heat as he likes it hot, its just the level of the crowds thats putting me off with June! will make sure we get to the parks early and return for lunch then head out again later, the one good thing i have noticed about going in june, is that the parks are open later than in oct, so we can head out about 6pm? not sure when it gets dark june, i think oct was about 7pm?
thanks again for any info, i really appreciate it.

Have you tried booking the park stuff directly through Disney and then looking for cheap flights?

I was there in mid October a few years ago and it was comfortably warm and a little humid. Much nicer than summer from what I've heard.

Go in the fall! We were just there the second week of December (no crowds, cool weather and all of the seasonal decorations and shows, also very good prices) and one of the cast members told me that after the time of year we were there that the week after Labor Day was the best and September in general for smaller crowds.

We have school aged children so we almost always go in June - we'll be there in late May, early June of this year. We generally go the second or third week of June and we always have a great time. I have been there in Sept. Oct. Mar. & January and the crowds are heavier but you will manage quite nicely if you have a good touring plan with best days information. Is the Unofficial Guild to Walt Disney World available? It has very good information. www.tourguidemike.com is a subscription site that is about the cost of a guidebook and it has excellent information. You can use their sample plans or follow their suggestions for making your own touring plans. We used their sample plans for our June 2005 trip and never waited more than 20 minutes for anything - not even the "headliners". We used www.buildabettermousetrip.com on our last trip and they were more expensive but you get custom touring plans and you deal with a real, live person who will answer your questions and make all your dining reservations for you.
