Help. We will be in Neport next weekend. What are some good restaurants for dinner there?

If you like sushi, drive south a few miles on Hwy 101 to Yuzen in Seal Rock. They have awesome sushi! Tables of Content in the Sylvia Beach hotel has family style dinners which are good (not great) but interesting as you sit and talk with other people during your meal. I guess we don't eat in Newport that often, because I can't think of any great restaurants besides Yuzen. I'm sure others will have ideas.

Thanks for the sushi suggestion. Has anybody eaten at any of these places: Italian Food Company, April's at Nye Beach, or Table of Contents at the Sylvia Beach Hotel? We like good, straightforward food at a place where entrees are mostly under $20.

Hi Jim! We're on the northern coast right now. I have heard good things about April's. Also, Georgie's Beachside Grill at the Hallmark. We ate there once and I remember it being good but it's been awhile.

I've also heard good things about Canyon Way restaurant in Newport. Maybe someone has some recent experience there. Enjoy Newport! I've been so enjoying all the fresh seafood in this area. Tonight will mark our nineteenth night of dining out in Oregon.

My BIL says we're going for some sort of record, LOL! I hope to try the 42 Street Cafe in Seaview, WA tonight then finish with one last meal at the Silver Salmon Grille.

I've also been enjoying all the great litle fish markets here. We had some excellent crab and shrimp cocktail at a little place in Seaside on our way to CB on Sunday. ***kim***

April's is wonderful, but probably at the upper end of, or above, your price range.

April's is great. If I remember correctly, I don't think it's overly expensive.

Another place I thought was good was Sharks Seafood Bar on SW. Bay Blvd. Small, casual, unique dishes.

I'm going to toss in a recommendation for Izzy's Pizza (north end of Newport on 101, at Yaquina Head) just because. No, it's not classy or romantic but the food is good and cheap - buffet-style mostly. You can get a pizza or salad buffet plus free dessert. If you're looking for something non-fancy and basic, give Izzy's a try.

We ate at MO'S last week while in Newport.Not real fancy but good chowder and seafood.

I've often considered staying there, just for the uniqueness of the place. I still don't know if it is directly on the beach or a short walk down. ***kim***

It's been a few years, but we really enjoyed our meal at Table of Contents. The dining room arrangement is not to everyone's liking. You will be seated at a table with others, and encouraged to participate in a game, the goal of which is to facilitate conversation/interaction around the table. It may sound childish, but was actually a lot of fun. And the food..... very good.

We had a wonderful meal at April's and the price is unbeatable in Newport for ambience and service. The menu doesn't state that the price of the entree includes (a nice) salad or soup--this immediately lops $10-$15 off the bill. I had a wonderful rib eye steak for $20, and the excellent wine list includes reasonably priced choices.

The rooms at the Sylvia Beach Hotel don't have all the things I look for at the seaside--king bed, refrigerator, coffeemaker, balcony overlooking the ocean. We stayed at the Elizabeth Street Inn which isn't fabulous, but which has these things for $109 ($119 on weekends).

We were tempted by Table of Contents. It sounds like fun, but the 6:00 PM seating was too early and the 8:30 PM seating too late. Maybe next time, but I would hate to miss a chance to eat at April's.
