Newport restaurants?
Hi all - Heading to Newport this weekend, staying at the Hallmark Resort and wondering if anyone knows of any good restaurants in the area? We'll be getting there saturday early afternoon, attending a wedding (at the aquarium?!) in the evening (so no need for dinner), and hanging out sunday before we head home. So saturday lunch and sunday breakfast/brunch ideas would be great. Also curious if any of you have experienced the Hallmark Resort before - how was it?
Thanks in advance!

We went to Newport several years ago and had a great time. We ate at many great restaurants. I remember Christies, The Brick Market?, Red Parrot? and a fabulous rest. across from the Parrot rest. I'm sorry I can't remember the names, but I do remember several great meals. It's such a nice place. Have fun!

I believe the OP is talking about Newport, Oregon. The other poster is mentioning restaurants in Newport, RI (a town that I love!).
If you are up for very casual, then try Mo's for lunch. It is an old Oregon standby. I can't help with other restaurants since it has been too long since we have stayed overnight vs day trips. I am sure other posters will chime in though.

Mo's is a good family restaurant and Georgie's, in the Hallmark, does a good job.
If you are a little arty, the "in" place is April's in the historic Nye Beach area. Across from April's The Sylvia Beach Hotel does a set meal with two sittings. We've never done it, but it sounds like fun and it isn't overly expensive. Both these places are about 1/2 mile from the Hallmark.

Quimby's (around the corner from April's and the Nye Beach area) also provides a nice dinner in a casual atmosphere. They have a website: www.quimbysrestaurant.com

If only I needed a place for dinner - it sounds like there are plenty of choices (all of which I'm sure will be better than the wedding dinner we'll be eating!). But still no brunch ideas..?? There's gotta be some good places for sunday breakfast/brunch in the area. Anyone?

A wedding at the aquarium sounds very interesting!
A couple of ideas for casual lunch: if you like good beer, check out the Rogue brewery. It's more of a bar-like atmosphere, but I had an amazing pizza there with smoked seafood. Yum! Also in the same area is Sharks. Not sure if it's open for lunch, and it has been over a year since I was there, but the food was great.
