Cannon Beach/Seaside, Oregon question

In a couple of weeks, we're going to the Oregon coast, staying in Cannon Beach. We haven't been there for a few years and am wondering if there are any new restaurants and/or shops you can recommend in the CB and/or Seaside areas?

Thanks!

Wish I could help. I only know the Newport/Lincoln City area. If you want to drive two hours for dinner, I know a great seafood place

Its been pretty quiet, Kal. Maybe the Del sol cruiser is making the rounds on the Prom?

Daydreamin- Seems like our regular CB/Seaside folks are AWOL at the moment. You might try typing cannon beach or seaside into the search box above. There have been a LOT of discussions on the two towns in the recent past.

Do I dare respond?

I can't help you with Seaside as I prefer not to visit there.

Cannon Beach is beautiful, with so much to do. Ecola State Park is on the north end, and is a must see. The other big attraction in CB is Haystack Rock. If you need more specific info on things to do, just ask. You didn't mention it in your post, so I wasn't sure if you already had that covered.

Shops...there are always new ones springing up. Depends on your taste. The town is small and it is easy to walk all over, so just stroll and see what you find. There is a cool glassblowing place on Hemlock, down at Gower St, across from the Surfsand Resort and a coffee shop.

Restaurants...some standbys include Mo's, Ecola Seafood Market (also a restaurant, but great to grab things for a picnic), and Wayfarer. Other newer places that I have not been to are Gower St. Bistro and Newman's at 988. Those along with the Stephanie Inn are the higher end options in town. The person to ask on these would be beachbum. He is a fellow Oregonian, and has actually been to these places, so can give you a first hand account.

Thanks, everyone!

mms...where is the Ecola Seafood Market? We haven't been to CB in 3 years so I'm having trouble placing it! I do remember that glass blowing place -- very interesting.

lcuy...thanks for the suggestion. I'll start searching now!

It is on 2nd. If you are on the main drag, Hemlock, facing south, then it is only a block to the left on that side street (2nd). It is on the corner with Spruce, I believe. Very casual place, but good food.

My favorite shop on the planet opened up this year in Cannon Beach - Sesame and Lily - beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. They also have a lovely store in Gearhar - things for the home, original artwork, soaps, etc. The Cannon Beach Spa has grown larger and now has a new / larger location - highly recommend. Spots to eat - love the Warren House Pub (further south on Hemlock than most shops / restaurants) and recently had a great dinner at JP's - right in the heart of downtown. Have a great trip!

Food-
JP's in CB. Remember the old red Ice cream/grocery store? Torn down, new shops. It's on the site of Osbourne's Groceries. Very nice!

Don't know how many years a "few" are- amusing dog boutique in mall/square area near CB'S Pig'n'pancake.

Some good new clothing shops as well- be aware both little Italian place and Cafe Mango have shut down.

Good italian restaurant in Manzanita...

Haven't been to Seaside for awhile....so no help there...

Hi daydreamin! There is a new Italian restaurant called Taste of Tuscany that is very good in Seaside. We also enjoyed Newman's @ 988 in Cannon Beach, it is also fairly new. I have reviews with photos of both of these places on Tripadvisor if you're interested.

Wet Dog is good in Astoria, also check out the Cannery Cafe and the Silver Salmon Grille in Astoria. Check out some of the food vendors at the Astoria Sunday Market on 12th if you are in Astoria on a Sunday. Very good crab cakes and clam linguine there. Have a great trip! ***kim***

LOL, good morning Love.
mooselywild, would the Italian place in Manzanita be Marzanos?
I , too , like Ecola Seafood, good for picnics too. And Mo's for chowda! We have been to Cannon Beach enough times that I look forward to a bowl of hot chowder on a cold windy beach day
Gower St Bistro is good too ..
I believe beachbum is being just that this weekend..

Who asked about Astoria?

We go to Cannon every year. Our very favorite place for lunch/dinner is Bill's Tavern. Good beers, burgers and salads, and sometimes entertainment. Also, for a nice dinner out, The Wayfarer Restaurant has very good food.
As for shopping, it seems we always come home with something from The Leather Shop. Enjoy
