ORD or MDW?

We're flying into and out of Chicago around Thanksgiving, and will be renting a car. O'Hare offers more flight options, and slightly better prices, but we're still leaning towards Midway to avoid the congestion, traffic, etc. of the busiest airport in the world. Opinions?? Thanks.

Tom, Atlanta Hartsfield surpassed Chicago O'Hare a couple of years ago to become the worlds busiest airport. That said, both airports will be busy.

Pat - We're planning on staying in town for a couple of days doing the tourist thing, and then traveling to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the holiday. We'll probably use public transit in Chicago, and rent the car on the way out of town, which means 3 trips to the airport!

Here - Thanks... If I use Delta (for the FF miles) I'll be changing planes in Atlanta!

Tom - I would absolutely steer you towards O'Hare. I fly in and out of Chicago many, many times a year and ORD is a much better airport. The weather in Chicago during Thanksgiving can get bad, and you will probably experience flight delays. At ORD, you will have many more flight options and if you are stranded for a couple hours - there is MUCH more to do at ORD. Just my opinion!

Tom: Fly into O'Hare. Take public transporation into the city. If you rent from Enterprise, they have 2 locations you can choose from that will be a short cab ride (probably) from your hotel - 850 N. State and 10 E. Grand. Pick up the car there & be on your way to Iowa - then return it at the airport.

I live in southern WI and have flown in and out of O'Hare many times. There have been times that they've been so effecient with the baggage that I have seen my luggage coming around on the conveyor belt just as I was getting to the baggage claim area. My lugguge got there faster than I could exit the plane and walk over there. It is a very busy airport but it is easy to use. You can get a limo-van or bus to just about any area of the city, suburbs, or region from there.

Wow, great tips! O'Hare it is, and we'll rent the car downtown. Many thanks!
