One Way car rental rates...
Does anyone know good source (web site) for deal son one way rentals ? I wanted to p/u in Vegas, drop in Phoenix or vice-versa (early June). Finding outrageous rates even with no drop off fees. Wasn't able to locate any threads on this Thanks.

I've learned it's a real hit and miss. They don't call them "drop off fees" any more, but as soon as it is a one way rental, most of them make it a different rate.
Just keep trying with different companies and also check for pick up in downtown rather than airport locations. I recently found that a two week one way rental from Seattle to Medford, Oregon is $500 cheaper by picking up in downtown Seattle instead of the airport! And last year I actually found a cheaper rate from Dollar to pick at LAX and return to Las Vegas, than if I returned it back to Los Angeles. Go figure!
I also found better rates by calling than I could bring up on the actual websites for companies.
And don't suggest Priceline, anyone. They won't price one way rentals.

thanks for the info on carrentals.com. I needed a one way rental too--p/u in Tucson & rtn in PHX, and got a price about $150 less than I got w/Avis. (Although I would have gotten upgrade w/Avis since I'm preferred, this was still a much better deal!)
thanks again!
thanks again!

Found a good rate from Dollar Car Rental (www.dollar.com) from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, dropping off at Las Vegas McCarran Airport early June. Check it out.

If you are going to be spending most of your time in the two cities and only doing a one-day drive, then I recommend doing a local rental in Vegas. On the day you plan to drive to Phoenix, get a new car in Vegas just for the drive. Drop the car in Phoenix the same day and pick-up a local rental for your time in Phoenix. This limits the one-way or higher rate to a single day, although you do have to make multiple stops at the car rental agencies.

Try websites like Travelocity, Expedia, etc. They will shop different car rental agencies and give you comparative prices.
It's hard to predict which car rental company will have surplus cars that they can rent cheaper from one given city to another, so the best thing to do is to go to a "megasite".
Good luck!

We flew into Phoenix and out of Las Vegas last year and Budget did not charge a drop off fee. I also saved quite a bit of money renting the car off site--Phoenix seemed to have a huge airport tax. Be sure to stop in Sedona if you have time--especially if you like to hike---it is beautiful.

Book the cheapest rate you can find, then when you get to the airport (very hard not at the airport) go to the desks of other major rental agencies and ask them if they have any "Phoenix cars" (i.e. cars that were one-wayed there.) If you're in a hotel, phone the local offices, not the 800 numbers.
Negotiate with them if they have one - speak to a supervisor if need be. Sometimes the station managers (not all of them) have considerable power to waive drop fees or other terms. We've done this on several occasions successfully.
