I'd recommend either Jean Roberts Bistro or Pigalls (more expensive).

or Jeff Ruby's restaurant downtown

Both locally owned.

We checked into the hotel and went immediatley to JeanRo, french bistro.
Thank you for the suggestion. It was fabulous. The concierge at our hotel made the reservation. We arrived and the hostess treated us like old friends!!
I had the trout which was amazing and DH had the Filet. It was one of the better ones I have tasted in a very long time. The wine list was very good as well.
We had the special appetizer of the day - a crab sald with a vanilla vinagarette over japanese vegetables. For dessert we enjoyed the Christmas Yule log I think it was called.
It was a great place and I would reccomend it highly!!!
