One day in Haleiwa -- where to eat?
Going to Hawaii in a couple of weeks, and we'll be spending one day driving around the North Shore of Oahu. We'd like to get dinner there. Should we go with Haleiwa Joe's, Breakers, or Jameson's by the Sea? We're looking for good (not gourmet) food and better ambience. Which one would you recommend? I can't find any consistent reviews of the three restaurants. Everyone seems completely polarized on all three ("Never disappointed!" "Worst place ever!" "Must do!" "Avoid at all costs!")
Any help is much appreciated

Alright, I think I'm leaning towards Joe's. It's weird, the Oahu Revealed book highly recommended Breakers (and gave lukewarm reviews to the other 2) but online reviews seem to be dismal. Plus Haleiwa Joe's seems more low-key, and the food gets better reviews. Is that a fair assessment?

Joe's is low-key, but not inexpensive. The atmosphere is very nice on the back patio. We did not eat at Breakers, but we saw it in a strip mall area. If you are early for dinner you should try one of the shaved ice places in town (we didn't notice any difference between them) It shouldn't spoil your appetite too much and it's fun to try.

Haven't eaten at Joe's, but we had lunch at Jameson's by the Sea and really enjoyed it. It is across the road from the ocean, but the view was lovely.
We also had shave ice with ice cream in the bottom at the General Store, which was voted by locals as the best on the island. Yum!

Thanks for all the input. I think I'm leaning towards Joe's. It sounds like Joe's has the best food, whereas Jameson's has the best view...we'll probably be pretty worn out by the time we get to dinner, so I guess we should go with the best eats
