Omni Suites Chicago - How nice?

I have a group of girfriends who visit Chicago once a year. We prefer suites. We have stayed at the Pennisula (gorgeous, but the suites are kind of funky - only King size beds), the new Embassy Suites (too sparse, rooms are suites, but kind of claustaphobic). I have read alot of good feedback regarding the Omni Suites but would like to know if they are REALLY; clean, and nice. I realize they are a bit older but a few of the girls are a little picky.

I know I can get a suite at the 4-seasons, drake, etc... but we don't want to blow all of our funds on the room.

We would be staying Thur night, leaving Sunday and do spend time in the room having "happy hour", etc... throughout the weekend.

Would all of you other "seasoned" travelers out there recommend the Omni suites?

Thank you in advance for your replies!

Stayed there about 3 years ago and was pleased. The bedding was great. It ismore of an old world feel than Embassy Suites. The bathroom was a little dated, but it was very large as I recall, with lots of storage space (nice with a bunch of girlfriends. Join the Omni rewards club (free) and they deliver juice and coffee to your room each day. The location is great. right in the heart of the Mag Mile, near lots of my favorite shops. The lobby is on the third floor so you have to take an elevator or escalator to get there.

I haven't stayed there, but would like to give it a try. While staying at the Omni Ambassador East recently I saw a blurb in their Omni magazine that they were outfitting all the suites at the Chicago Omni Suites with 37" plasma TVs. Sounds nice, if you like watching TV in the room.

But, the main thing I wanted to say was that when I signed up for the Omni rewards program they sent me two coupons - one for a free room upgrade and one for 50% off a weekend stay. So you might be able to get a couple of your nights for 1/2 off with that coupon.

thanx so much for your replies and hints - i joined the omni rewards program years ago, but maybe I'll update my profile to get the wonderful coupons! If I decide to stay I will definately come back to the board and let everyone know how it went.

My good friend is an office nurse and her doctor/boss gives them a weekend in Dec. at the Omni with meals for an Xmas present. They have been to different hotels over the years in women groups like this and love the Omni Suites. I think that each year it is a vote toss-up between Omni and Renaissance on the River for that women's group. Some are very, very picky. You will like it.
