I wouldn't worry that much about the Omni, although if you do get a dog room ask for another.

The location, BTW, is much nicer than the Hampton, at least for my taste. While the Hampton is convenient to Chinatown and Penn Quarter, there's not much charm there.

At the Omni, you've got a nice neighborhood that is a break from heart of the city yet close to transport. It's a great area for dinner and an evening stroll down a leafy street. Even if you're not big on zoos, it's a tremendous place for an early morning walk/jog because it opens at 6 a.m. -- a neat experience.

I've stayed at the Omni and it is a little tired but as other people have mentioned it is in a good area for restaurants and very convenient for the metro.

If you decide to stay there, you should join their frequent stay program before you go, its on their website.

It's free and the welcome pack they send to you, includes a free upgrade to the next class of room on your first visit.

On tripadvisor people mention doors slamming, its so true. We arrived at about 10.30pm and I told my wife about the stories I had read regarding the doors and that we should be careful. Even with prior knowledge I managed to let the doors slam about 3 times within the first 10 minutes while entering the room, gettin ice and a getting a crib

There is so much to see and do in DC, in fact, for me I find it better than New York for things to do.

I'm sticking with the Omni. My family will enjoy the pool some. If my room in unacceptable, I have no problem asking them to work with me on it. I did sign up for the frequent stay program. I'll watch the doors. I've stayed places where that happened. I try to be quiet and not disturb others. Someone mentioned paper-thin walls. I have stayed at many nice hotels before where I could hear people talking at normal levels in the room next door. I felt guilty for hearing what they were saying so I turned on the t.v. In Hawaii,I thought I heard a baby crying and whining next door and then I realized it was no baby... well, maybe "his baby" alright. Yikes!

We stayed at the Omni last year and yes, the neighborhood is great and it's easy to get to the metro. Down side is definitely that the rooms are VERY tired, restaurant is VERY expensive, and they run a lot of events (so if you have a problem with your room, make sure to get it changed ASAP, and be prepared for a long wait to checkin). The other big complaint was that the fire alarms went off twice during a 3 day stay. No explanation or apology from the hotel. Friends who stayed there last month as part of a conference also reported a problem with the fire alarms!

I stayed at the Omni a month ago, and would say it was a great deal for the money and I splurged at $140... Compared to the $99 rate! I have no complaints. The room was spacious and comfortable. My friends sharing the room got breakfast delivered to the room and it was delightful The closest metro is actually Woodley Park/ Zoo which is literally right around the corner on Connecticut Ave. The neighborhood is great with a variety of different restaurants and lots more in either direction off the redline of the metro!

Well as long as an old thread is topped anyway, we might as well mention that biddingfortravel reports recent Pricline wins for the Omni at under $100.
