Oct in NE - Grape Harvest possible?
Hi. I don't post on this board much, but I'm a regular on another Fodor's board.
We are thinking of spending October somewhere in the Northeast - hopefully to find somewhere there is a grape harvest. It's our 38th anniversary so we want a special time. We are very flexible - will be driving up - I have looked at a bunch of postings for the Finger Lakes on here, but haven't found any mention of a grape harvest. Maybe Oct is too late?
I know this is very general, but if you have an idea or a direction to point us - I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Carol / Brahmama

How about Long Island, NY - there are many wineries within 15 miles of each other on the North Fork. The harvest season runs from late September to the first few days in November.
Middle of Oct, the weather is usually clear and the air temp hovers in the low 60's in the daytime.
Try googling Long Island Wine Council to get more info.
There are lots of B & B's, but just a couple of high-end hotels, so book soon. There's an article in Sunday's (today's) NYTimes Long Island section about the wineries and some local restaurants. You must register to get access to the articles.
Email me ([email protected]) if you want more info.
